CEU / Contact Hours
What are CEU's?
A national task force of volunteers met in 1970 to establish a form of credit for continuing education different from the conventional semester system used in higher education. This credit was called the "Continuing Education Unit" and has come to be known as the "CEU".
A CEU is defined as:
"Ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction."
The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) is the founder and guardian of the CEU and determines the criteria for awarding CEU credits.What are Contact Hours?
"Contact Hours" is the term used by the American Nurses Credential Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) to define a unit of nursing continuing education in nursing. A contact hour is defined as:
"Fifty minutes of an organized learning activity, which is either a didactic or clinical experience."
Inner Access 101 is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center 's Commission on Accreditation.
American Holistic Nurses' Association Contact Hours available 140.4 contact hoursAmerican Holistic Nurses' Association (AHNA) has approved the Medical Intuition: Lori Wilson's Total Body Intuition program for Nurse Continuing Education Credits equal to 140.4 contact hours.
CEU / Contact Hours can be used to:
- Provide employers with a history of an employee's professional development activities.
- Apply for relicensure or recertification, as defined by state agencies or professional organizations.
- Provide a basis for an employee's eligibility for a salary increase or promotion.
- Accrue college credit, based on an institution's requirements for translating life experiences to college credit.
- Provide a record for Lifelong Learning Tax Credits.
